Cartridge World bucks the trend with green business commitment

Despite ongoing tough trading conditions, Cartridge World, which has almost 220 stores across the UK, continues to buck the trend, reporting sales for its annual business to business sales up 5.7% for the period to the end of July 2010.

The continued successful growth is in large part attributed to the launch of Cartridge World Business Direct in March 2010. The Cartridge World Business Direct service allows all businesses to reduce their printer operational costs through the use of low cost, high quality environmentally friendly, ink and laser printer cartridges, all backed by a 100% moneyback guarnantee.

Retail sales of Cartridge World’s own brand of cartridges have also seen an increase in the last 12 months, up 2.2% compared to sales of manufacturers’ own inks.

Cartridge World’s UK Field Manager, Adam Davison, sees this as highly encouraging for the high street franchise operation in light of industry figures that claim a 2.1% increase in consumers choosing to purchase ink cartridge supplies via the internet. “Our experience is that we are still bucking this trend too. Our growing base of customers still prefer face to face service, and choose a local retailer for their printer consumables. This is an area in which our franchisees are still enjoying significant growth.

Adam adds: Our customers are continuing to make a significant impact through their commitment to recycling. The company’s latest figures for the past 12 months show that Cartridge World saved over 2 million inkjet cartridges from going to landfill and saved £7.6 million for its retail customers. Cartridge World also saved 242,000 laser cartridges from landfill, resulting in savings in excess of £6.7 million for business customers. Undoubtedly there is a long way to go. It is estimated that each year in the UK alone over 45 million cartridges are needlessly thrown into landfill*, each one taking up to 1,000 years to decompose**.”

Cartridge World is the market-leading retailer of refilled and remanufactured printer cartridges. Using specifically formulated inks or toners, the Cartridge World stores can refill or remanufacture all major brands of inkjet and laser cartridge. The end result is a high quality product offering the customer substantial savings on the cost of an original and an environmentally friendly alternative to throwing the cartridge into landfill.
