It’s in the Bag For Eco-Friendly Coalville School!
Cartridge World Tamworth presented an eco-friendly primary school in Coalville with prizes won at this year’s Eco Schools Show in Peterborough.
Year 4 pupil Emily Shepherd of Woodstone Community Primary School correctly guessed the number of empty printer cartridges on the Cartridge World exhibition stand, winning herself the chance to have her own design printed onto eco-friendly cotton bags courtesy of Cartridge World. Each pupil at the school has been given one of the bespoke bags which provide a ‘green’ alternative to using disposable plastic carrier bags.
The competition was staged to highlight the amount of empty printer cartridges that end up in landfill every year and to encourage schools to join Cartridge World’s ‘Recycle It’ scheme. This involves schools collecting empty cartridges for recycling in return for cash for school equipment and activities.
For every empty cartridge collected, Cartridge World will donate 50p to the school. Parents can further support the school by having their printer cartridges refilled by Cartridge World in the Tamworth store. For every cartridge refilled, a donation of £1 will be made to the school.
Head teacher, Pat Mullins, said, “We’re all really impressed with Emily’s design on the bags which sends out a real ‘green’ message. The pupils will have no excuse now for using carrier bags! Emily is also a member of the school’s ‘Green Team’ which coordinates a number of environmentally friendly initiatives at the school such as growing vegetables, recycling and collecting rainwater. The competition win has given the team a great boost.”
