Cartridge World Great Yarmouth Now Open
Residents and businesses across Great Yarmouth will be able to improve their environmental credentials by reducing the amount of cartridges sent to landfill, while also saving money, thanks to the arrival of the brand new Cartridge World store, on Regents Street, Great Yarmouth.
The store has been launched as a franchise operation by local businesswoman, Donna Ioannou.
Donna, who took voluntary redundancy from the Royal Mail in January, had never considered opening up a franchise operation until the local Jobcentre Plus suggested she get in touch with the Women's Employment, Enterprise and Training Unit (WEETU) about business opportunities in the area.
Donna was soon put in touch with Cartridge World where she decided that her redundancy money would be best spent launching a franchise herself, creating a further three new jobs in the process. Two of the three positions will be taken by other professionals affected by redundancy, and the final role of store manager will be occupied by David Oldham, who returned to the area after several years working away as an IT manager.
Speaking about her plans for Great Yarmouth, Donna said: “Launching a franchise is a completely new challenge for me, but with previous experience in operations, sales and finance based roles, I feel that I am well equipped to grow the business over the next couple of years.
“Having been made redundant myself, I know how difficult it can be to find another job and it is really positive that I can give back to the local community. All three of the jobs are going to people who have been hard hit by the recession and have been out of work.”
Donna will also head up the Cartridge World store in Lowestoft, which is set to launch on 5th September, bringing two franchise operations to her portfolio.
Using specifically formulated inks or toners, Cartridge World stores can refill or remanufacture all major brands of inkjet and laser cartridge, offering customers substantial savings on the cost of an original and an environmentally friendly alternative to throwing the cartridge into landfill - where it can take up to 1000 years to decompose.
