Epson EcoTank ET-2750: How to Replace the Waste-Ink Pads (and Reset the Counter)

If your ET-2750 has stopped with the message “A printer’s ink pad is at the end of its service life”, don’t panic. On this model, waste ink is soaked up by internal pads. Once they’re saturated, the printer locks out until you replace the pads and reset the waste-ink counter.

Below we’ll show you a simple DIY approach, plus the exact tool you’ll need to reset the counter afterward.

*Quick note: Epson’s manual says the pads aren’t user-replaceable and recommends service centres—but plenty of people do this at home with care.

What you’ll need

  • A replacement waste-ink pad set for the ET-2700/ET-2750 family (often sold as compatible with ET-2700/2750/2760/2850). or you can use this maintenance box C13T04D100

  • Small Phillips screwdriver, a plastic pry tool or tweezers, paper towels, and gloves.
  • A USB cable (for the reset step).

Step-by-step: swap the pads

  1. Power down & prep
Turn the printer off, unplug it, and place it level on a covered surface (ink can drip).

  2. Open the rear-right service corner
On the back-right of the ET-2750 is a small cover with a screw. Remove the screw; the cover lifts off. You’ll see another screw holding the grey waste-pad carrier—remove that too.

  3. Release the pad carrier
Gently unclip the small tabs along the grey carrier and lift it out. Take a quick photo so you remember pad orientation.

  4. Swap the pads
Lift out the inky pads. Drop in the replacements (same orientation as your photo). Seat the carrier back in and ensure the tabs click home.

  5. Reassemble
Refit the two screws and the rear cover.

Reset the waste-ink counter (required)

After you’ve replaced the pads, the error won’t clear until you reset the internal counter.

WIC Reset Utility (Windows/Mac/Linux):

  • Download: https://www.wic.support/download/

  • Connect the ET-2750 by USB (not Wi-Fi).

  • Open WIC → Read Waste Counters → buy/enter a reset key → Reset → power the printer off/on.
(ET-2750 is supported; you can also see a model-specific page here.)

FAQ

Isn’t this a service-centre job?
Epson’s user guide says the waste-ink pads are not user-replaceable and suggests contacting an authorised service provider. DIY is at your own risk—but it’s a common fix and cost-effective on out-of-warranty machines.

Do I have to reset the counter if I changed the pads?
Yes. The printer tracks waste-ink usage internally. It won’t print again until the counter is reset. WIC Reset is the simplest route for UK users.

Can I just reset the counter without changing pads?
You can, but if the pads are truly saturated you risk overflow. If in doubt, replace the pads or fit an external tank before resetting.
