Cartridge World returns - sending an ink or toner printer cartridge back to us
Cartridge World Returns
Need to arrange a return? This page explains our statutory cancellation process, our additional 30-day returns policy for unopened ink and toner cartridges, and what to do if a product is faulty or incorrect. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by our voluntary policies.
Choose the return route that applies to you
Statutory cancellation rights, our voluntary 30-day cartridge returns policy and faulty-product returns are separate routes. The conditions and timescales are different for each.
Changed your mind after buying online?
If you are a consumer and bought online, you will normally have 14 days after receiving the goods to tell us that you wish to cancel, subject to the statutory rules and exceptions that apply. After notifying us, you normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.
- You do not need to give a reason for a qualifying statutory cancellation.
- Please contact us or submit a return request so we can provide return instructions.
- Your statutory cancellation notice is not dependent on an RMA number being issued.
30-day unopened cartridge returns
In addition to your statutory rights, we offer a voluntary 30-day change-of-mind return period for unopened and unused ink and toner cartridges in brand-new condition, with a full refund where the conditions of this policy are met.
- Your return request must be made within 30 calendar days of the purchase date.
- Cartridge packaging and seals must be unopened and intact.
- This additional policy applies to ink and toner cartridges only.
- It does not apply to printers, computer hardware, office supplies or other non-cartridge products.
Something is not right?
If you believe a product is faulty, damaged, not as described or you received the wrong item, please contact us. These issues are handled separately from change-of-mind returns and your statutory rights remain unaffected.
- Include your order number and product details.
- We may ask for photographs or other information to help review the issue.
- We will provide the appropriate return or support instructions.
How to arrange a return
Please contact us before sending goods back so we can record the return and provide the correct instructions.
Log in to your Cartridge World account, select Orders and find the item you need help with.
Use the Return link next to the relevant item, or contact customer service if you checked out as a guest.
We will review the request and, where a return is required, provide an RMA number and the correct return instructions.
Package the goods securely and clearly reference your RMA and order number so we can process the return promptly.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect products
Please contact us if you believe a product is faulty, arrives damaged, is not as described or is not the item you ordered. We will review the issue and confirm the appropriate next step.
If a return is required
Once the issue has been reviewed, we will issue an RMA number and, where appropriate, provide a Royal Mail return label link or arrange for a return label to be emailed to you. You can print the label at home or, where the service supports it, show the QR code at the Post Office.
Refunds, replacements and other remedies
Once the returned product has been received and reviewed, we will confirm the appropriate remedy. Where a refund is due, we aim to process it promptly and normally within 5 working days of completing our review.
Change-of-mind returns and order cancellations
The statutory online cancellation period and our additional 30-day cartridge policy are separate. Please use the section below that applies to your return.
Statutory online cancellation
For qualifying consumer purchases made online, you normally have 14 days after receiving the goods to tell us that you wish to cancel. You then normally have a further 14 days to send the goods back. Statutory exceptions can apply to certain types of goods.
- Please tell us clearly that you wish to cancel within the applicable cancellation period.
- You may inspect goods to the extent you reasonably could in a shop; a deduction may be made where handling goes beyond this and reduces the value of the goods.
- Where the law requires it, the refund will include the cost of our standard delivery service.
- If you selected a more expensive delivery method, any additional delivery cost above the standard service is not normally refundable.
- Unless we have agreed otherwise or the goods are faulty or incorrect, you are normally responsible for the direct cost of returning a change-of-mind order.
Additional 30-day cartridge returns
Our voluntary extended policy gives you additional time to request a change-of-mind return for unopened and unused ink and toner cartridges, with a full refund where the conditions below are met. This policy sits alongside any statutory rights you may have and does not extend to other product categories.
- The return request must be made within 30 calendar days of purchase.
- The ink or toner cartridge must be unused, unopened and in brand-new condition.
- All seals and original retail packaging must remain intact.
- Return postage is paid by the customer for a voluntary change-of-mind return.
- Printers, computer hardware, office supplies and other non-cartridge products are not covered by this additional 30-day policy.
Replaced your printer?
If you have changed printer and are left with unopened ink or toner cartridges that you can no longer use, we may be able to help under our additional cartridge returns policy.
Unopened cartridges up to 3 months old
Contact us about unopened and unused ink or toner cartridges within 3 months of the purchase date. A refund may be available where the request falls within the applicable 30-day returns period, and after 30 days we may offer store credit at our discretion.
- This arrangement applies to ink and toner cartridges only.
- Cartridges must be unopened, unused and suitable for resale.
- Store credit after 30 days is discretionary and is not a cash refund entitlement.

Once your return has been arranged and you have your RMA number, please send the goods to:

For change-of-mind returns, you are normally responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods. If goods are faulty, damaged or incorrect, our customer service team will confirm the appropriate return arrangements.
Our additional 30-day cartridge returns policy is for unopened and unused ink and toner cartridges only. If a cartridge is faulty, or you are exercising a statutory right that applies separately, please contact us so we can review the circumstances.
No. The additional voluntary 30-day change-of-mind policy applies specifically to unopened and unused ink and toner cartridges. Printers, computer hardware, office supplies and other non-cartridge products are not covered by this additional policy. Any statutory rights applicable to those goods remain unaffected.
We will contact you after reviewing the product and explain the next step. A finding that there is no fault does not remove any separate statutory cancellation or other consumer rights that may apply.
Yes. Please contact customerservice@cartridgeworld.co.uk or call 01423 701704 so our team can help arrange your return.
