Frequently Asked Questions
Printer Cartridge FAQ
What are the benefits of using Cartridge World Cartridges?
Firstly, you’ll be saving money – purchasing a printer manufacturer’s cartridge will cost you a lot more than choosing a Cartridge World branded cartridge. In fact, you can enjoy savings of up to 30% by switching to a Cartridge World printer cartridge solution*.
Our inks and toners are specifically formulated to match leading brand cartridges so the print quality is guaranteed to be just as good, if not better.
What does OEM or Original mean?
OEM stands for ‘Original Equipment Manufacturer’. Buying an OEM cartridge means it was manufactured by the same brand that produced the printer. For example, an original (OEM) HP ink cartridge is made by HP for HP printers.
Will using Cartridge World cartridges affect my printer warranty?
No. All of our cartridges are guaranteed to match the performance of original cartridges under similar conditions. Printer manufacturers are legally required to provide a 12-month warranty that cannot include anti-competitive terms.
If it is established that our cartridge caused a printer fault, we will repair the printer free of charge. Please see our Cartridge World Warranty Certificate for more information.
Should I update my printer firmware?
Printer manufacturers often use firmware updates to restrict the use of remanufactured or compatible cartridges, introducing cartridge locks or new cartridge generations.
We recommend disabling automatic firmware updates to avoid being locked into using more expensive original cartridges. Firmware update steps vary by printer model, so please contact us for guidance.
What is page yield and how many pages will my cartridge print?
Page yield is the number of pages a cartridge can print based on an ISO standard using 5% page coverage.
Cartridge yield varies by printer and cartridge type. Some cartridges are available in standard or XL versions, with XL containing more ink or toner.
Printing these paragraphs on a plain A4 sheet would represent approximately 5% coverage.
I have not used the printer for a while and my printouts are streaky. Is there anything I can do?
Run a head cleaning cycle using your printer software. This clears blocked print heads. Refer to your printer manual or contact your local Cartridge World store for expert help.
